FORT MARTIN SCOTT

COMMENTS: The old Ft. is located just east of Fredericksburg on 290W, on the right if you are coming from Austin. The state has made it a Park in the last 8 years or so & is rebuilding several of the the officers quarters. REMAINS: Officers Quarters & Jail

I believe it was the furtherest west fort back in the 1840's & only was used for a short time as people kept migrating westward. The town of Fredericksburg is on down the road just a bit going west & there you can see many of the old buildings of the late 1800's as well as Admiral Nimitz's boyhood home & the Nemitz museum is just right across the street.
