News reports indicated that Mammoth was evacuated twice in the same day. All residents were able to return that night and no damage to the community was reported. Ryan is probably right though...structures are everywhere in those mountains, so it is likely that something was lost in the fire. It burned about 60,000 acres last I heard.

: : With the recent HUGE fire between Eureka and Mammoth, Utah does anyone know if any historical structures were destroyed?

: I went out that way the day the fire started. I asked someone in the gas station in Goshen about the fire right after I heard about it on the radio, and he said that he heard they evacuated Mammouth. I don't know if it actually burned though. I drove through Eureka from Vernon on my way home from camping and the fire hadn't done any damage there. I haven't heard any updates since. With the huge area that burned though, there has to be a lot of ghost town structures that burned because they are all over in those mountains.
