: : I'm heading into Utah this week and thinking about stopping in Frisco (southwest Utah, posted on this site). Since the town is a little ways off of the main drag, I'm wondering if it's worth the trek. Judging from the information and photos on this site, the spot is pretty spectacular, but there is also a note that some of the ruins are marked "no trespassing."
: : If anyone has visited the spot recently, I'd love to have your input about the town's accessibility. Thanks!
: Frisco is right next to and on the north side of a secondary highway not far from the Nevada border (west of Milford, UT). If you're in the area, I'd recommend a visit. Pretty cool wood frame and stone ruins, charcoal kilns, good photo opps., etc. and a substantial mining ruin on the hill above the townsite - which may be where you'll find no trespassing signs. Sorry to say that I havent been there since Jan. 1987, so my info is hardly current. Access back then was easy - right off the highway. Good luck.
I hope your trip to Utah and Frisco was an enjoyuable one. Frisco is truly worth the effort getting there. Just a note about Frisco and what you'll find there. When you arrive at the historical marker there are two sets of ruins that you will want to see. To the right up a dirt road are the ruins of the old town itself - "downtown Frisco" the dirt road basically goes down main street which has eroded quite a bit the last dozen years or so. The ruins to the left, up on the hill are the remains of the Horn Silver mine itself. Most of this area is on private land and is owned by the Horn Silver Mines Inc. (I'm a stockholder). Though it is marked for no tresspassing there usually isn't anyone around to stop you from poking around. The area around the mine is the best for taking pictures as there are several old frame and stone buildings still standing.
While at Frisco, don't miss the Cemetary which is about halfway between the ruins on the right and the mine itself. It is a boot hill staight out of the movies!
