COMMENTS: Sits on the Mora River, only remains are stone building foundations. Access is on NM Highway 161 west of Watrous and I25. Pretty rachland on drive East of Mora.
REMAINS: 2 or three largely intact stone buildings (minus the wooden roofing materials in some cases), and many large wall remnants.
Used as a local in one of Louis L'amour's "Sackett" novel titled "Mustang Man". When Fort Union was abandoned in 1891, the town died, but in the 1870s it had a rough and bloody reputation. Submitted by Carey Stewart.
